Why are there no front porch homes in Texas?
I have been looking at houses and none seem to have big front porches. What happened to big wrap around porches? I want to have a front porch swing and it's impossible. The builders in the city of Dallas build the same homes over and over again. Everything is brick and looks the same.
Just so everyone knows...I'm looking in the Arlington, Grand Prairie, Mansfield area. Suburbs outside of Dallas & Fort Worth
Because "All my X's live in Texas" and they don't hang on the porch with their neighbors, they do it in the back yard with a BBQ I guess.

An outdoor porch swing is a perfect gift idea. Everyone loves to swing, and most people love to be outdoors. Whether the swing actually gets used on the porch or out in the yard, or in the garden, it is sure to be a hit with everyone. With the holiday season fast upon us I thought a little more information about these might be helpful. There are many things to consider, and options to ponder when purchasing a swing. And if you are buying for someone else, you are going to have to be savvy. Here are a few things to think about as you start your quest.
First of all, if you decide that an outdoor porch swing is something you want to buy for someone else, then you are going to have to go into stealth mode. You know what I mean. Start making little comments around the intended recipient about swings you see. "That's a nice swing", or "What a weird swing", or "I wonder if that swing gets used much". Comments like these will illicit just the sort of information back that you will need to make the purchase. If the person you want to give an outdoor porch swing to reacts positively then you know you are on the right track. You can't be obvious about all this or you will blow it.
